On today's episode of "Barrack Obama is the Man," our president signs a bill declaring that the North American bison is our national mammal, because why not? The National Bison Legacy Act — which is a real thing that exists — positions the bison as one of our national animals because it played an important role in westward expansion. That being said, the dudes behind the expansion were notorious for sipping on that haterade since they nearly drove these animals to extinction, depriving Native Americans of a valuable food source in the process. Fortunately, conservationists have brought the North American bison back from the brink. To celebrate their newfound distinction, let's take a look at some baby bison being adorable. 1. This looks like a stuffed animal. Explain. Reddit / JenniferKingU 2. He totally understands the feeling you get when your new haircut is lit. Reddit / ren721 3. Here's what I ...

This simulation by the Southern California Earthquake Center shows the shaking that could be felt by Los Angeles during a possible magnitude 8 earthquake on the San Andreas fault. (SCEC) Southern California’s section of the San Andreas fault is “locked, loaded and ready to roll,” a leading earthquake scientist said Wednesday at the National Earthquake Conference in Long Beach. The San Andreas fault is one of California’s most dangerous, and is the state’s longest fault. Yet for Southern California, the last big earthquake to strike the southern San Andreas was in 1857, when a magnitude 7.9 earthquake ruptured an astonishing 185 miles between Monterey County and the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles. It has been quiet since then — too quiet, said Thomas Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center. Although the Pacific plate is...

Photo credit A New Mexico family recently arrived in Colorado to find a treatment for their 2-month-old daughter, Amylea who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy. During Amylea’s short 2 months of life, doctor’s prescribed countless medications and treatments for her seizures—nothing worked. Her parents knew there was a solution. The answer was hidden in plain sight—three simple letters—CBD. Hemp for victory Photo credit The family was convinced Charlotte’s Web hemp oil, that is rich in CBD, was the answer to their daughter’s condition. In New Mexico the Nunez’ were not able to find a doctor that would allow the use of CBD under their care. Though they were able to purchase Charlotte’s Web in their state (in fact it is legal in all 50 states), the family would potentially be at risk to lose Amylea to child protection services that do not condone the use of any cannabis based product. Persistence paid off for the family in Colorado—doctors at t...
